A new house

Time for another update, because quite a lot has been going on recently. After the new tie-rod ends were installed it really needed tracking, but I had some other things to do first. The car had been inside for another month and was quite dusty, so I decided to take it for a quick wash. No point in detailing as the car still hasn’t got paint yet. I’ve decided to once again postpone this a few more months, but it will surely happen this year.

Current Speclist

With many new parts coming up I thought it’s about time for an overview. Things have been progressing unbelievably slow for this installment in my driving career, but things will finally take off now. Here is my current speclist. I have a lot of parts not installed yet, the list will grow bigger very soon!

Road Legal finally!!!

I have little time to post, but before the celebrations fade away there is good news, as after 2.5 years I finally managed to get my car inspected and legally road worthy. The faults from the previous inspection have now been fixed.

Inspection 2012

So finally I had time and money to order the last bits to get the S14 road approved. Next week more goodies will be ordered and there are still some parts in transit. The most important thing now is to get it passed the inspection, because driving without it means no valid insurance. I thought it would be worthwhile to write a small update to show how things are progressing.

Quiet times

Finally I drove it for a short while recently. The good news is that I have found a painter. In April it will get its paint, but there’s some things still to do before paint. I need some new parts.

Paint prep

Lately not much has been going on besides sanding and filling. My original intention was to get it painted this year, but priorities has led me to postpone it until after the winter. So while I have plenty to do, there’s currently not that much interesting to report. There is only so much you can do in 10-12 hours and I don’t have the convenience to go to my car every day.

Spoiler boot holes

In the mean time I have been working on the rear end to get it prepared for paint. When I got the car the bootlid was covered with stickers to cover up the spoiler holes. After the OEM spoiler had been removed there was another spoiler on there, so I had some holes to fill. :P

Fog & reverse lights

My battery gone dead again after I forgot to put it on the charger when I was in a hurry. I got a new one now….but I won’t make the same mistake again. Those racing batteries are too expensive! As for the ugly and temporary fog and reverse lights, it was now time to make something more permanent. I ordered new LED lights that I could neatly work away into the bumper.

Small Improvements

So while I’m out of money it is still going to take a while before this car will run. It won’t for at least another 6 months. In the meantime I will be doing various small jobs of all kinds. I have plenty of stuff still to install. Here are some small things I did. Nothing crazy, just tidying it up a bit. First I installed a new radio as I just can’t work with CDs, I always use USB connection and use my phone’s SD cart to load music.

Apexi Turbo Timer

Finally I will be installing some of the new parts I ordered. The turbo timer was still missing and I’ve always loved those. Whether it be for a turbo or N/A application, these things rock. Cooling the cars down is just as important as heating them up.
